The "Fuego" Mask (The Mask of Fire)

This mask represents the Maddarian's ceremony for warding off "magia negra" (dark magic). The reason they wear this mask is because supposedly, the magia negra was repelled by fire. So, they created a mask to represent fire to ward off any spiritual magic that might cause harm. The jewels were an additional feature added to enhance the light reflecting off of them from the fire. This caused the ceremony to be truly luminous, and because of this they then held the traditional ceremony at night. To try and replicate the flicker of the flame they had to use a brush stroke and glittering paint. The crown on the mask was meant to demostrate that the Maddarians had more power or control over the magia negra.  They enhanced the eyebrows because they wanted to look in a way fierce before they battled with the dark magic.
